This study developed allometric equations for crown fuel load and compared crown fuel characteristics in 12- and 28-year-old Pinus densiflora stands in Mungyeong, Gyeongsangbuk-do, to evaluate the effects of stand age. A total of 12 and 10 trees were destructively sampled from each stand, and crown fuels were classified into needles and branch diameter classes. Log–log allometric equations were developed using DBH as the independent variable. Needles accounted for the largest proportion (33%) in both stands, while 1.0–2.0 cm branches were more dominant in the 12-year-old stand and 2.0–4.0 cm branches in the 28-year-old stand, indicating structural differences with stand age. The younger stand exhibited a lower canopy base height, suggesting a higher risk of transition from surface to crown fire. The models showed high explanatory power (adjusted R²: 0.7473–0.9437 for 12-year-old and 0.6359–0.8859 for 28-year-old stands), and prediction intervals widened with stand age, indicating increased variability. These results provide baseline data for improving wildfire spread prediction and crown fire risk assessment.
